As I climbed up the steps of my office, on the first day of yet another week, after an unforeseen absence in office in the week that went by, I only was speculating the possible happenings.
And to my pleasant pleasant surprise, as I climbed, I could catch hints of colors on the 2nd floor. As I moved on, I found the entire 2nd floor was painted... Painted with impressions and desires of my colleagues, boss and everyone! There were twines across the room, with paintings swaying away. The space never looked this vibrant and intriguing.
Friday, apparently, saw an announcement of a fĂȘte: where people could pour and throw colors around, feel the creative freedom in the air. A break from the conventional architectural design process.
These innovative breaks are so important in an institution- one really gets to revitalize and revive the vigor, which in someway gets withered through the long working hours and days. It gave everyone a chance in the office to go wild; I saw different medium and methods were used to paint. Brushes, cloth, pieces of laminates... Even cutters and even… fingers, palm, feet!!!
Scenes from Taare Zameen Par flashed across my mind… where there is an intense craving for an individual’s matchless expression of thoughts. I simply love the movie, for another reason-they have illustrated how important it is to just boast of colors around us in life.
The floor began to fill in by 5… and somehow nobody was in a hurry to dash out by 6:30. Everyone longed to stay till it was really really over. A very refreshing break I believed.
photographs revealed the festivity and the good cheer… everyone came together for a period, which rarely happens… and left with a celebrated spirit!!!
Left me with want of going home and trying my hands on colors...
